If you play chess and care about people, you can make a real difference as a coach.

Volunteer or discounted coaching

Coaches can volunteer their time or offer lessons at a heavily discounted rate for students in need. The goal is not to profit, but to make quality instruction accessible.

Flexible time and format

You can coach in-person in Chattanooga or online through chess.com. Sessions can be short, focused, and designed around your availability.

Support for new coaches

Ben can share lesson ideas, simple study plans, and guidance for working with students from all walks of life and all skill levels.

Sign up as a coach

You don’t have to be a titled player. If you understand the basics and are patient and kind, you can help.

To apply, please contact us and mention that you’re interested in coaching. Include:

  • Your chess experience level (approximate rating if you have one).
  • Whether you prefer in-person, online, or both.
  • Your general availability (days/times).
  • Any experience working with homeless individuals, disabled people, people living with mental illness, or those facing life changes and financial hardship (not required, just helpful).
